HI GUYS,
I did a little baking this weekend and made some cute halloween treats! They are so yummy and cute!
So because they turned out okay I thought I'd share them with you guys, down below is the recipe and some pictures to show of the process of my halloween treats.
Recipe:
Biscuit dough:
200g of softened butter150g of caster sugar
2 large egg yolks
400g plain flour
1 tsp of mixed spice
1 tsp of ground cinnamon
2-4 tbsp of milk
Icing:
250g icing sugar
2 tsp of orange juice (freshly squeezed)
1 tsp of water
Black writing icing
Black and orange fondant icing
A couple of disposable icing bags
Utensils needed:
2 baking trays
Electric whisk
Bowls
Baking paper
Sieve
Rolling pin
Ghost cookie cutter
Method:
1- Preheat oven to 180degrees C. Line baking trays with baking paper (this is sooo important I didn't do this once and they all completely stuck which was a waste of food and time!).
2- Mix the butter and sugar in a bowl using an electric whisk, then beat in the 2 egg yolks and mix.
3- Sieve the flour into the bowl with the spices too and mix ( I would suggest with hands). Then after add the milk to form a dough (which can take a while and you may need to add more flour if it gets too wet and then also add more milk if its too dry).
4- Knead the dough together and then roll out using a rolling pin to about 1/2 cm, then cut the ghost shapes out of the dough and place them onto the baking sheets ready to go into the oven.
5- Put the biscuits in the pre-heated oven for 10-15 minutes, after baking remove and place on a wire rack to cool before icing.
6- Mix the icing sugar and the orange juice and a little water. When the biscuits are cool enough ice the whole biscuit using it's shape as a guide.
7- Cut out 2 orange triangles and 1 black triangle out of the fondant icing for each biscuit and "glue" them on using the icing from earlier.
8-Using the white orange icing made earlier write the word "BOO" on the flags each letter on 1 flag.
9- Finally use the black writing icing to draw a line which is joining the flags together.
10- ENJOY :)
So thats the recipe done and as promised there are photos below of my progress in making these biscuits.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
Stay Happy
Love Lucy x
